Meet Lola

Lola is the sweetest little girl. She loves people and loves to give kisses. She plays with toys a little and will fetch them, but not sure what to do with them when she gets them. I cant imagine what this sweet, funny, loving, playful girl must have gone through before she became a Emporium Yorkie Rescue Department  puppy.

At only 2 or 3 years old her hair was matted to her skin, there was feces stuck to her back end, and she smelled terrible. We couldnt even get to her skin to bath her or even to give her petting and love. She saw the groomer a day after she came to her foster home. The groomer did her best but with the amount of mats and that they were matted to her skin from her head to her tail, she had no choice but the shave her down. She felt that Lola had probably never been groomed or maybe only once in her life. The shelter said she was a brown dog. But Lola has a little tan on her face and her body is blonde. There is no brown on little Lola at all. That was how dirty and vile her hair and skin were. We weighed Lola on a baby scale before she went to the vet and she was 6.10 pounds. After her grooming, with the mats gone. she was 6.3 pounds. That is over half a pound of matted hair covering her body.

We have only had Lola two days, but we have learned a few things about her. We know her personality is sweet and loving. She was great in the car. She was okay walking to the car leashed, but there hasnt been an opportunity yet to see if she really does walk well on a leash. It is probable she never had an anyone to love her enough to even walk her. Not surprising, she is not house trained, though she will go outside and do her business if she is out when she has to go, but she doesn't know that is where she is supposed to do all her business yet. Her first night she slept in a playpen, but not her second night. She was having none of it and is has happily joined her foster brother on the bed.

With all the neglect and abandonment Lola went through, it is amazing she is such a sweetheart. She craves human attention and it is no wonder. She never hade much if any of it before. This little girl is beautiful and when her hair grows back in she will be fabulous.

Lola saw the vet on Tuesday. She had a thorough exam, and get scheduled for her spay. We will update you on sweet Lola after we know more about her medically and as her personality continues to show itself.
We are considering applicants from all 50 states for her adoption.
